Work Experience in Europe

Work Experience in Europe

Since July 2010 we have organised work-shadowing and work experience placements in Europe through our Leonardo contracts for People in the Labour Market

With the success of these visits, we now have approval for further contracts. Our next visits are arranged for 2012 with placements in Malta and Spain and an additional country; Italy.

Participants receive language and training preparation, travel subsistence, accommodation, and spending money.

Vocational Training for European Creatives (VTEC Phase 2)

Vocational Training – the target group is people who are in the labour market – seeking a job, volunteering or in a new-entrant role, and under state retirement age

The aim of the project is to widen the work experience to volunteers and new employees in order to enhance their knowledge and skills in their sector and to gain sustainable employment in the UK. The project also encourages individuals to set future goals to work in the EU and develop their own knowledge of cultural organisations in Europe. They will meet new people to share their experience with, whilst simultaneously working on their confidence-building and motivation.

Placements are in Malta, Italy and Spain

Initial Vocational Training for European Creatives (IVTEC)

Initial Vocational Training – the target group is people who have completed or are completing a vocational qualification or apprenticeship

The aim of the project is to provide a work experience opportunity that provides supplementary evidence towards the participants chosen qualification.  It is not part of the qualification. The project also encourages individuals to set future goals to work in the EU and develop their own knowledge of cultural organisations in Europe.

Placements are with organisations in northern Spain

Current opportunities

We organised 48 PLM mobilities since September 2011. This completed our PLM contract volume for 2011/2012. We will published new mobility opportunities soon.

TESTIMONIALS

For my placement I worked at the Macuf Museum of Contemporary art. This was a really inspiring place to work. As I had studied art and design, I enjoyed being in a place filled with interesting artwork. I supervised the group activities and school visits. I hope this insight will help me in future job applications to art galleries. I really enjoyed the overall experience, and I have now widened my job search to look for work in Europe. So I feel the experience was a positive one! (Kathryn)

The trip was nice and interesting. It was an experience to see the difference between the English and Spanish culture. There are a variety of sights to see such as the Tower of Hercules, the beach, Aquarium, etc.  I did enjoy the sight-seeing and going to different places. It is very different to Wolverhampton and the difference of culture between English and Spanish people was very interesting to note.  (Matthew)
